A bit more about me and what I do

My great teacher is wildlife and landscape photography - this is probably the area where I most hone my skills which make me successful in other disciplines. It's where I learn to trust my eye and my instincts - patience, timing, understanding of light, camera skills ... all the things required for successfully capturing the moment.

I hope that, through my photography, I can help others be more aware of the beauty of the world we live in. There is beauty around us every day, we just sometimes forget to look. That is where I try to be - seeing things that may bring feelings of pleasure and wonder to others.

I use professional Nikon equipment - cameras, lenses, flashes. They fit my hand well, create awesome images and the support in South Africa is excellent. I started with Nikon with my first film camera, a Nikon Pronea S in 2001, and have not looked back. The equipment works for me and is built to last - that's what counts.

I have had many pleasurable journeys through my photography - to name a few highlights ....

I have been to many game lodges and reserves through my association with Ilanga Travel (just the best incoming tour operator around!!).

I have had the priviledge of photo-documenting the Cape Floral Region Protected areas, and have then been on a fascinating trip to Japan and Hong Kong, sponsored by Panasonic, through my work documenting Unesco World Heritage Sites with Our Place Publishing.

I have visited the Tango capital of South America, Buenos Aires with my partner Ani, and travelled aboard the MSS Multanovsky research vessel around the Antarctic peninsula, making several landings on the white continent, and seeing the most amazing sights! (online soon)

I have spent time in the magnificent Okavango Delta with co-adventurer Michael Langer and had a chance to experience this African miracle up close. (online soon)

I have made an online video interview about my wildlife photography with American photography TV host Marc Silber at Silber Studios USA .

I have made many friends and seen amazing sights that constantly remind me what a beautiful world we live in, and that we need to ensure that it remains that way for future generations.
